This is a beautiful rare Ronald Stevens Big Sur Jade carved octopus figurine. This is one of the largest models we have seen by this artist. A smaller octopus figure sold at Chait auction for $2500 in 2014. Big Sur jade is the only concentrated underwater deposit of gem quality nephrite to be found anywhere in the world, and so is perfectly appropriate for this delightful octopus, finely fashioned from a single large piece of excellent quality and uniformity of color, a deep rich green, with finely textured skin and a mass of curling tentacles, 4.5 by 4.5 inches high.
