Samson Paris Antique 19th century Porcelain Statue Of Winged God Zephyrus Nymph Anemoi 20" This is a beautiful large antique porcelain statue designed by Samson Paris French Porcelain Company. It depicts the winged figure Zephyrus god of the west wind abducting Chloris a nymph asociated with spring. It is hallmarked underneath with the Samson mark. It is a large statue measuring 20" inches high and 11" inches wide. The piece is in excellent condition. "In Greek mythology, Zephyrus was described as one of the Anemoi, the winged-god of west wind. The gentlest of the winds, Zephyrus is known as the fructifying wind, the messenger of spring. Zephyrus was the son of Astraeus , the god of stars and planets and Eos, the goddess of dawn. A nymph, Chloris associated with spring, flowers and new growth, who dwelt in the Elysian Fields was abducted by (and later married) Zephyrus.With Chloris, he fathered Carpus."
