Antique Signed A Foretay Bronze Rat Shell Tray with Mussels

Beautiful signed A. Foretay bronze ornate sculptured shell form tray with high relief sculptured mussels and a beautifully detailed and very lifelike sculptured rat standing on the end of the shell going for the mussels. It is inscribed A. Foretay under the rat tail (Alfred Jean Foretay, born 1861). This is a beautiful antique well sculptured and interestingly designed vide poche. It will make a wonderful paperweight as well or tray to place coins, jewelry, keys or other small items. This is a beautiful antique French 19th century sculpture by a well listed artist whose small works have sold for more than $3500. The tray measures 5-1/2 inches wide, 5-1/2 inches deep to the back of the rat tail, and 2-1/2 inches high. Excellent condition guaranteed to please any sculpture collector.
