Rare Antique Rosewood Box with Mother of Pearl Inlay

Rare antique rosewood box with Mother of Pearl inlay. The box has its original lock plate and most of its original Mother of Pearl inlay. This box was purchased at an estate auction. The last owner had it appraised for $1,800. It has the original lining but no key to lock it. One Mother of Pearl disc along the border is lacking. Also lacking is the Mother of Pearl key plate that most likely was on this box when it was made more than 125 years ago. The box has a warm glow to its patina. Rosewood boxes of this style are very rare. Width 8 inches, depth 4-7/8 inches, height 3-1/8 inches.
